Cubism Instrument in Oil Pastels

Students will be taking a journey from learning the history of the Cubist Movement to mastering the medium of oil pastels. Learning about the artists that contributed to the movement from 1907 to 1914, the passionate masterpiece of Picasso’s Guernica, and onto the creation of an original cubist piece of their own. From their learnings, students will be portraying an instrument they truly admire related to a music style they love the most. They will interpret that instrument in the cubism style with the medium of oil pastels. With research and analysis of the cubist movement, this project challenges the students to create a legitimate cubist art piece by studying the techniques of the cubist masters.
