SEL Core Competency: Relationship-Skills

Relationships Skills are about interacting with others. The Core Competencies prior to this focus on learning about self and then how to understand others. This skill is the action of interacting with others. Students are using the information to engage.

In school, there are lots of opportunities to practice these skills. It is important to make sure they have the previous skills as well. These skills look like: 

• Being a productive member of a group

• Applying  learning to a real-world problem and then working with a group 

• Learning how to navigate disagreements

• Learning how to foster trust
