Using a hypothetical discussion between two coworkers broken up into four parts, budding biologists examine the flu shot and some of the typical arguments for and against it. The conversational nature of the reading makes it engaging and easy to read; the analysis questions following each section allow learners a chance to think about what they've read, discuss it with others, and make connections between the passage and the real world. The lesson plan could be taught in either a whole-class or small group setting.
