This Five E's AMSTI lesson plan equips learners to divide an object into equal parts. A story and interactive whiteboard activity about sharing food demonstrate the idea of equal halves of circles, after which students attempt to half squares and rectangles, and explain their findings to the group. Finally, children divide paper and electronic pizzas into 3 and 4 equal parts. This lesson plan was created by exemplary Alabama Math Teachers through the AMSTI project.
