This instructional activity allows middle schoolers to explore horticulture within a controlled environment, a greenhouse. Students engage in hands-on activities as they grow their own plants and chart data concerning the conditions related to plant growth in a greenhouse. The data collected is recorded on a spreadsheet to aid in growth prediction over a specified amount of time. This instructional activity should precede other lessons regarding research on plants grown in a greenhouse.
