This activity is modeled after the popular storybook character of Flat Stanley who traveled the world with real people. Students are asked to take 'Flat Blue,' an image of a blue goose, with them to a natural setting. They explore the setting, write about their observations, and take a photo of Flat Blue there. They then write a story back at school. Flat Blue was a project from 2011 and the image can no longer be downloaded from the provided link, but the activity can easily be adapted using a different wildlife image.
