Prove theorems through an analysis. Learners find the midpoint of each side of a triangle, draw the medians, and find the centroid. They then examine the location of the centroid on each median discovering there is a 1:2 relationship. The activity leads to a formula for finding the location of the centroid for any given triangle.

Instructional Ideas
- Use a graphic organizer to record the rules, theorems, and formulas used throughout the lesson series
- In place of patty paper, use thin graph paper to verify the midpoint location without folding
Classroom Considerations
- Requires graph paper and patty paper for individual pupils
- The lesson builds on the previous installment in this 15-part series
Pros
- Builds in many opportunities for discovery and finding relationships
- Provides a problem set of questions that incorporates previous concepts, as well as an answer key with explanations
Cons
- None
