Originally designed by an American language teacher teaching in a public Japanese junior high, this instructional activity could easily be used for any beginning or intermediate level ESL class. With this plan, your class will review two useful, but unrelated topics: animal sounds and passive voice. Open the instructional activity with a fun and engaging game in which groups race to correctly identify animals and the sounds they make in English. Then have pupils complete a series of three mini-lessons aimed at getting them to read, understand, write, and speak in passive voice sentence constructions.
