Annenberg Learner: Artifacts and Fiction: Workshop in American Literature

Curated by ACT

This workshop, which is divided into eight segments, teaches how to use primary source artifacts from a variety of genres to support the teaching and learning of specific pieces of literature. The genres include visual arts, political and social history, oral histories, domestic architecture, cultural geography, and ritual and ceremonial artifacts. The workshop uses the American Passages video series, which is available through video on demand. All resources for the workshop are freely available online. While Annenberg Media no longer issues professional development certificates, many school districts will accept some proof of workshop completion for continuing education credit. Also, the workshop is available (for a fee) for graduate credit.
