Learners analyze Greek vase painting and create their own vase art. In this vase painting lesson, students analyze the design element shape and the relationship between figure and ground. Learners design a figure/ground relationship using a letter of the alphabet. Students make an ambiguous figure/ground composition using the negative shapes from the letter project.
