Arizona State University: Natural Horn & Its Technique

Curated by ACT

Arizona State's descriptions of the horn are broken up by illustrations of the horn, players, and music. There is a big discussion of crooks (not the kind that go to jail), but the kind that are made when you bend metal! The author notes that "there was a great difference of tonal color between the low and the high crooks." He's a much more observant person than I am, for sure! This piece has elements that would serve a research paper well, and would certainly appeal to a horn player who wants to know more about crooks!!
