Who knew atoms could be attracted to each other? A simulation allows learners to see how forces between atoms influence the attraction between them. Classes see the attractive and repulsive forces adjusting as distance between atoms changes. They also view how the attraction affects their potential energy.

Instructional Ideas
- Have pairs play with magnets and discuss why sometimes they attract and sometimes they repulse
- Instruct pupils to determine amounts of magnetic forces by drawing large/small arrows, then show simulation and discuss similar forces and their amounts
Classroom Considerations
- When teachers register for free, they gain access to teacher tips, activities, and related resources
- Simulation best fits with advanced middle and on-level high school learners
Pros
- Resource can be viewed in a number of different languages
- Simulation fits easily into a lecture, discussion, or presentation about atomic forces
Cons
- None
