Fourth graders explore the characteristics of organisms and how these influence their ability to survive in particular habitats. Students perform experiments with types of bird beaks and graph their results. Students explore familiar birds, their beaks and their feet. They observe real birds in their yards. Students create a real or imagined bird that can survive in a particular environment.
