Black Hills Institute of Geological Research: Unearthing T. Rex

Curated by ACT

Follow the steps of paleontologists as they excavate Tyrannosaurus bones. This project took place in 2004 but there is plenty of useful information on the website for learning more about the T. Rex. Such as, how do you tell a male from a female, what did a T. Rex use its arms for, and how do you 'read' fossils. There are slides and videos from the excavation and, later, the preparation of the fossils in the lab, and excellent ideas for class discussion or research in the classroom activities section. Well worth a good look!
