Once kindergartners have learned the letter m they are ready for this sound correspondence activity. Start with a stack of letter cards including mostly m and a few other letters they haven't learned yet. Find these letter cards here for printing. Model the game first, picking up one card at a time and saying either "not /mm/" or "/mm/" to indicate whether or not the letter is an m. How fast can scholars go without getting a letter wrong? This will work best with an adult and a small group of kids. Increase difficulty by adding another letter they know and having them look for both.
