Test young counters to see if they can recall the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in both word and numeral form. First, they match word-form kites to number-form children, drawing the tails to the matching counterparts. One is done for them. Next, there are five nests and five numbers for learners to match up, and they must count the number of eggs in each nest to determine the amount. For this one, consider asking what they notice about the nests with more eggs (the eggs are smaller) and those with fewer eggs (the eggs are larger). Finally, they complete a number sequence by filling in these five focus numbers.
