Canned Sort

Give your budding readers practice with vowel sounds using a sorting activity which will especially appeal to kinesthetic learners. They examine two cans, each with a header card attached. The header card words have the same vowel pronounced differently. Using 10 word cards, learners sort each into one can or the other depending on how the vowel is pronounced. There are eight sets attached here and one blank template for students to write their own headers and corresponding words. Have them challenge others with the template they create!
