Curated by ACT

This set of lesson plans was developed to accompany Ground Rules: Mining Right for a Sustainable Future, a documentary film created by Caterpillar and Science North. They introduce students to the various phases involved in mining, different types of mines, how ore is processed, how mineral deposits were formed, how modern mines can operate safely and sustainably, and why minerals are important to our everyday lives. This material also introduces students to a wide variety of mining careers. The lessons are suited for three age groups from ages 11 to 18. A link to the 23-minute video is included in the resource, and it can be seen online for free.
