Students solve equations with the help of their teacher. In this simple equations instructional activity, students listen to the story Centipede's 100 Shoes by Tony Ross and use the scenarios given in the book as addition and subtraction problems. Depending upon student ability, this may be done whole group, in pair or individually with or without the use of manipulatives.
