[Free Registration/Login may be required to access all resource tools.] The nucleus is only found in eukaryotic cells. It contains most of the genetic material of the cell. It is surrounded by a double membrane, or nuclear envelope, that controls what goes in and out of the nucleus. The nuclear envelope also has pores embedded in it that allow things to flow out of the nucleus. Learn more about the cell nucleus in this learning module produced by CK-12.
