Using the provided SMART board lesson, have your 10th graders come up to the board and combine two independent clauses using a "glue" word (coordinating conjunction). For homework, they can write ten additional compound sentences. You could turn this activity into a game or a race for added incentive. Though the lesson states that it is for 10th graders, it could easily work in higher or lower grades.
