Identifying the location of ordered pairs on coordinate planes is the focus in the math instructional activity presented here. In it, 4th graders are introduced to coordinate pairs, the x/y axis, and the techniques associated with this type of graphing. An example of student work is shown, and the coordinate pairs needed to create a smiley face on the grid are included. This would be a good instructional activity to employ when you are ready to introduce your kids to the world of coordinate graphing.
