Students develop techniques for estimating the area of a circle and use ideas about area and perimeter to solve practical problems. In this area and perimeter instructional activity, students apply the concepts of perimeter and area to the solution of problem. Students apply formulas where appropriate to identify, measure, and describe circles and the relationships of the radius, diameter, circumference, and area.
