Crash Course Games: #9: Playstation and More Immersive Video Games

Curated by ACT

This video focuses on PlayStation and its counterparts. By the mid-90s the video game industry was booming. In 1994, Sony introduced their PlayStation console which coupled cutting-edge technologies with great games. In the 90's the Sega Saturn and eventually the Sega Dreamcast as well as the Nintendo 64 appeared. This new hardware brought a new era of immersive games including 3D, and with CD's, the size of games allowed for longer, more complex storytelling. Local multi-player and split-screen games also became popular. Games on the PC were becoming more immersive as first-person shooters began to flourish on the platform. [11:51]
