Learners read the Chinese folk tale, "Li Chi Slays The Serpent." After the story is over, they make a list of the courageous things she did in the story, and the admirable characteristics she possesses. Then, the whole class comes up with a hero, or heroine, of their own who slays a beast that comes from their imaginations. The kids will like this lesson because it will allow them to come up with all sorts of monsters, and scary scenarios.
