The final activity in a unit study of immigration and human rights asks class members to design a project for their school that builds support for immigrant classmates. To prepare for this project, individuals use what they have learned in previous lessons to craft a story about an imagined immigrant. After brainstorming questions, pairs take turns adopting the voice of their character and being interviewed about their immigrant experiences. Individuals then assess their school response to immigrants and design a service learning project that would serve them.
