Young mathematicians practice their reasoning as well as adding and subtracting skills with this activity that includes five simple word problems about birthdays. Learners are give pictures of birthday cakes and based on the number of candles on each cake, they have to determine how old the person is, how old they were last year and how old they will be next year.
