When Christopher Columbus discovered the New World he and his entourage brought with them not only the views of Europeans, but also diseases of Europeans. This was catastrophic to the natives in the Caribbean Islands and Meso-America as they had no way of combatting the illnesses. Look at the context of events during this time, evidence of pre-contact health and epidemics on virgin soil, thoughtful questions about the dilema, and extra resources to fully understand the impact of these new concerns of the New World.
