In order to count circles, youngsters have to know what they look like! First, they examine a circle, trace two by following the arrow, and draw a couple on their own. Now that they are familiar with this shape, they count and record the circles in three images. The totals don't exceed 10. Consider also asking them to find circles in the classroom: How many can they spot? Do they notice that the zero in the 10 looks a lot like a circle?
