Eleventh grade students at High Tech High Media Arts School in San Diego California are the authors of this book: Iconic: The Black and White of Our Heroes & Heroines. To create this collection of essays each student reflected on their personal relationship with his/her chosen icon. The students' selections include a broad range of categories such as art and cultural icons, family members, historical figures, humanitarians, fictional characters, and athletes. The students paired their essays with black and white photographic self-portraits.
