A map from 1911 showing the lake region of the Laurentian Plateau and adjacent areas, primarily north of the International boundary in the region known as the Canadian Shield. Only the principal lakes are shown. As indicated in the text, there are at least 20,000 small lakes south of the International boundary that can not be represented on a map of this scale. The map shows the river drainage patterns and irregular lake shorelines typical to the peneplain landscape of the region.
