The statuette represents Taweret, the goddess of protection of women in childbirth. She is depicted as a female hippopotamus with the arms and the legs of a lion and the tail of a crocodile. The statuette is placed on a rectangular, hollow base, open at the back in order to contain a small, mummified animal.
