But since 9/11, foreign students, many of whom study science and technology in the United States, have had more difficult times of obtaining and renewing visas. This could lead to a slowdown in the pace of scientific discovery. Are the stricter policies associated with foreign visas justified given 9/11? This article from May 2003, looks at that question.
