Read the descriptive paragraph (included) with your middle schoolers, and have them study the stylistic elements included. They'll look for vivid verbs, alliteration, assonance, similes, and personification. Before writers craft their own paragraph, walk them through the example leads on the last page.Then, have learners write a descriptive paragraph of their own. There's a small chart for them to evaluate their writing, and there's even space for a peer and the teacher to comment as well!
