The fortress of Louisbourg was one of the pivotal centre's of control and defense in the colony of New France. Ultimately, whomever controlled Louisbourg controlled access to the St. Lawrence Seaways and access to the New France interior. This resource documents the battle over the fort between the French and the English during the mid-1700's battle for control of North America. Detailed accounts are provided of the two major sieges in 1745 and in 1758.
