An interesting take on spelling practice is included here! Emerging spellers take their weekly spelling list and create a three-column chart. In the first column, they write the word itself. In the second column, they write how many vowels the word has (in fraction form), and the final column displays how many consonants the word has (also in fraction form). To increase the study just a bit more, consider having them add a column and count the number of syllables in each word.
