The teacher of this Grade 1/2 class won the 2006 Governor General's Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History for this project. Students explored the history of grain elevators in Alberta and connected their disappearance on the prairies to that of lighthouses on the East Coast. The teacher unit accompanying the project offers some powerful insights into authentic learning experiences. Some parts of the site are not fully developed yet.
