Asking questions often leads to more questions. In a research instructional activity based on Temple Grandin's Animals in Translation, ninth graders formulate claims based on the synthesis and analysis of each of their inquiry paths. A graphic organizer prompts them to write a claim at the top of the page, followed by numerous examples of supporting evidence and references. For essays with two points, learners fill in the appropriate sources and references for each point.
