This Guess the Marbles in the Bag lesson plan also includes:
Use this activity to help your class develop an understanding of greater than, less than, and equal to with numbers valued between 1 and 10. Secretly place a number of marbles (between 1 and 10) in a brown paper bag. Then shake the bag in front of the class at least a few different times to give them a feel for how many are inside. Then allow learners to guess the quantity, take 4 to 5 guesses, and write them on the board. Then reveal the actual number of marbles and count them together. Write the number of marbles on the board. Now, with the class, sort the guess by greater than, less than, and equal to classifications. This may be tricky for your learners, so having some additional marbles to use as a visual may help. Repeat this game until everyone has had a guess.
