Huntington Library: A Nation Conceived in Liberty [Pdf]

Curated by ACT

In this lesson, 11th graders examine the events and political philosophy that laid the foundations of the American government, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. They also look at what role religion played in shaping American values around religious liberty. Students work in groups to explore resource materials on religious toleration, the American Revolution, the development of the Constitution, the expanding frontier, and emancipation. Each group then presents what they have learned. Student resources are included in the lesson.
