This instructional activity supplements one on the "Settlement of the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay Colonies of New England." It looks at religious dissent and intolerance among the Puritans in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Students look at Roger Williams, Anne Hutchison, and the Salem witch trials. They perform a reader's theater about Anne Hutchison's life in the colony and her trial. They next read about the Salem witch trials and follow this with a class discussion. Student resources are included in the instructional activity.
