Story elements: the problem and the solution. Help your youngsters identify these elements by reading Bringing Down the Moon, by Jonathan Emmett. After a class discussion and chart creation discussing problems and solutions from past read stories, Emmett’s book is read aloud. The Kindergarten class then pairs up with a fellow classmate and discusses the problem and the solution in the story. For independent practice they will draw a depiction of the problem and solution of one of the stories read in class.
