Your class watches a video about Chris Jordan, a talented photographer and activist who tries to get an environmental message out by his work. As a cross-curricular project, have your class imitate his style of art with an object that they frequently throw away as trash. Have them write about it and research how much of that object is likely to be thrown away daily, and then they can represent the data mathematically. Consider having them further their research to the impact on the environment as a way of incorporating science. Fascinating and inspiring!
