The focus of this, the third in a five-activity unit study of human rights, is on individuals who made a difference. Billy Bowlegs, Dr. Sun Yat Sen, Fannie Lou Hamer, Michi Weglyn, and Yuri Koshiyama are some of the people class members investigate to determine ways citizens have responded to rights violations. A final discussion examines the characteristics these activists share.

Pros
- The Individuals Making a Difference Resource Cards, although text-heavy, introduce class members to noteworthy people and their actions that made a difference
- Reproduce and laminate the resource cards so that they can be shared with multiple classes and from year to year
Cons
- Only 20 resource cards are included; larger classes, therefore, will need to share cards
- Reproducing the cards represents a considerable investment of time and money
