Give youngsters a better grasp of the letter d by combining letter sounds, pronunciation, recognition, and word examples. Scholars examine the letter shape then listen to you make the /d/ sound and try it on their own. Kids brainstorm words that begin with this phoneme and finally play a fast-thinking letter recognition game. You point to letters one at a time; if it's a d they say the /d/ sound and stay silent for all other letters. The pronunciation guide isn't worth your time but the letter cards may be helpful. The mnemonic here is helpful in discriminating b from d, a common mistake.
