This Introduce /u/ lesson plan also includes:
As scholars are learning about letter sound correspondence use this activity to help them with the /u/ sound. Learners examine a large u on the board, identifying it if they can. They listen to you make its sound, explaining to them what you are doing. Can they help brainstorm words that begin with this phoneme? Finally, they play a fast-thinking letter-recognition game as you point to letters one at a time. If you point to a u, scholars say the sound. For every other letter they stay silent. The pronunciation guide is more work than it's worth; simply make sounds yourself. Find letter cards here if you need them.
