This Introduce Vocabulary: Franklin's New Friend (Bourgeois) lesson plan also includes:
Franklin the turtle makes a new friend as youngsters learn vocabulary in context using Paulette Bourgeois' story (tip: this strategy can be applied to any book). Brief kids on the new words so they can raise their hands when they hear them during the story. Recommended words are: mumble, relieved, scowled, and unison. Use the comprehension questions to help budding readers make personal connections, and consider the graphic organizers for visual learners. There is a video of this story online, but it doesn't include the same vocabulary.
