Second graders watch as the teacher and one student play a game of Checkers. They see the teacher "win" by not following the rules of the game. Students listen as the teacher reads the book "Joshua Disobeys." They review the rule that Joshua the whale disobeyed as well as the consequences of disobeying. Students discuss how animals are taught their rules. They write rules to place in a box and discuss why these are important.
