Instructional Ideas
- Go beyond the school; direct learners to draw a map of another area in town such as their neighborhood or favorite park
- Create a poetry corner where pupils can read their poems to the class
- Direct scholars to draw or write what they visualized while listening to the read-aloud
Classroom Considerations
- The lesson is the first of four in a series focused on habitats, created by Rainforest Alliance
- Many of the items found in the Included Materials section are required for the remaining lessons in the series
Pros
- The lesson plan has a clear organizational pattern
- The activity gets pupils up and out of the classroom
- A picture example is provided
Cons
- The link referenced in the math portion of the lesson no longer works; therefore, math instruction is vague
