Learning area 2: Challenging Stereotypes and Discrimination

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Six powerful and eyeopening lessons provide scholars with activities designed to challenge stereotypes and discrimination. The unit provides reading material with which pupils read and discuss. Grand conversations lead to physically squashing stereotypes by way of throwing out paper or popping a balloon. An activity asks participants to self reflect on experiences. Class members celebrate differences. Small groups role-play scenarios in practice for standing up for one's self and others. Question answering and a final discussion close the unit.
